Course outline

Inspire a love of the arts through teaching. Specialise in two teaching areas such as English, geography, history, drama, Japanese, music, screen media, biology, chemistry or mathematics.

In this program you will learn how to plan lessons, assess students, and manage a classroom and have the opportunity to experience different school settings and learners by taking a trip to rural and remote areas. Graduate are eligible to apply for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT). Majors

English, geography, history, Japanese studies, screen media, theatre and performance. The following teaching areas are not available at Moreton Bay: Japanese, Music, Theatre and Performance.

Other requirements

Students must complete 80 days of supervised professional experience, completed as full-time blocks as program approved. The majority of experience must be completed in a Queensland school. Students must undergo a criminal history check and obtain a Suitability Card before the first workplace experience; refer to institution. Students undertaking an Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program are required to complete the Literacy and Numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) in order to graduate. The Inherent Academic Requirements of a program are those fundamental skills, capabilities and knowledge that students must be able to demonstrate in order to achieve the essential learning outcomes of the program, while maintaining the academic integrity of that program. Prerequisites

English, Literature, English and Literature Extension or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 and 4, C); General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 and 4, C); Completion of Year 12 or attained age 17 years; Teaching Personal Statement
